Veyron - A Rapper’s Milestone for Success

Lil’Wayne, Birdman, T-Pain, Chris Brown; Akon what does all these rappers have in common? Besides being rappers, they have a need for speed, and a desire to drive one of the most exclusive and exotic cars in the world. This is why each and every one of these rappers has in their garage, a Veyron. This is one of VW’s best sports car projects by far and is evident from the price tag that each unit has been meticulously crafted to detail. In fact it is so expensive- multimillion dollar rappers use it as a bench mark for success in their respective careers.
Lil'Wayne the first rapper to own a Veyron
This 30 year old young rapper has a number of exclusive automobiles including Bentley and Maybach 62s parked in his yard that he cherishes and respect but says that the Veyron for him is the summit of all his possessions; his $14million home included. Lil Wayne aka Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. goes on to say that he respects the car so much that he does not allow his entourage to touch it, let alone put it in any of his videos for models to shoot in; in fact, “if I had my way I’d keep it locked up behind high walls and bars” he said.
He adds that though rappers always brag about what they have accomplished in their songs and videos, he will never say anything about this vehicle and wants no 'props' or compliments from anyone regarding the acquisition there of. He claims he is the first black man and rapper in the USA to drive one and that the guys at the dealership even called him “The Barak Obama of Bugatti” bestowing him the title of being the first.

YMCMB rapper Birdman on the night his Bugatti Veyron was delivered
Birdman, often referred to as the Dr. Dre of YMCMB a.k.a Brian Williams, claims he has more money than the Dr. himself. This is one man who is known to flaunt all his belongings from chains to watches, cars, homes - he puts them out there for any media that is interested. He is never the type to buy it and keep it away from the public. In most of his TV interviews Birdman would grab a bag full of his latest collection and bring it along to set, we don’t know the reason behind that as yet but it seems to be working for him. On his latest interview with Tim Westwood TV, Birdman brought a bag of diamonds worth over $3 million to set. But yet, with his caliber he still had his Veyron delivered in a container in his yard and had his publicist call the press to witness the delivery. This is besides the number of supercars that he owns and a one of a kind convertible limited edition Maybach 62s (only three made, one in Dubai and the other with a certain king in Africa, we suspect it could be the one owned by Hnr. Makhosetive Dlamini a.k.a King Mswati III) which he never gave attention to as far as the press is concerned.

T-Pain

T-Pain had a total of 33 vehicles in his villa before he added number 34, the Veyron, which brought a tear to his eye when he looked back a few years, as he puts it “from the most hated to achieving this, truly must mean there’s something I am doing right …”. He goes on to say that he feels that he has represented the hood very well as not many can get to this kind of achievement. He believes that with this car he will encourage many young stars from his hood and all over the world to hold on to their dreams and make it a reality. “Even if I lose this vehicle in the future, I will rest assured that I have lived and fulfilled my dream” he said.
Chris Brown seen at the mall in his Veyron

Chris Brown

Though Chris is not known to be the guy in flashy cars than his diamonds, the fact that he spent $1.8 million on a two tone (grey and red) Veyron simply says that he does subscribes to the concept of the Veyron milestone to success by default. With no exclusive shots to his story, ‘Chris Brizzy’ as he is known to his peers, had been spotted at shopping malls around Virginia (US) in his Bugatti.
Multi Platinum selling artist Akon dedicated a song to the Veyron

In his 2009 hit ‘HERO’ featuring Rick Ross and the clan, Akon dedicates a whole three and a half minutes to the Veyron. The song praises the car as a hero close to what they are as rappers. Akon owns a fleet of cars and a helicopter for special occasions but we do not know whether he does not feel like has been successful enough to acquire a Bugatti or perhaps he had run out of space in his garage. It definitely is not because of the speed that gives him the phobia as he owned a white Lamborghini Murcielago which he wanted to give away at some point in some marketing stunt. Whatever his reasons, we believe just from the song that he subscribes to the concept of the Veyron being the career success highlighter.

So you are an artist like Zahara wondering what this car will set you back at in South African terms, or perhaps you won the Power Ball lottery on the weekend and you need to get your hands on a Veyron. It will set you back a whopping R 15 000 000,00. So, you are wondering how much it will cost you to finance this car over 72 months on a 9.5% prime; let's do the Maths, shall we; R 260 500,00 before you start saying maintenance. What? All of a sudden you feel inadequate? That's called being realistic.
